Shikra Safaris was established in 1998 by Kotie Herholdt. He's worked in many National Parks and Game Reserves such as the Kgalagadi Transfortier National Park, Addo Elephant National Park; Bontebok National Park and Hans Merensky Nature Reserve as a game ranger. Later in his career he was the assistant Director for Law Enforcement and Problem Animal Control for the Mpumalanga Parks Board. During this time, he obtained a Master’s Degree in Wildlife Management and has published over 60 scientific papers and short notes on wildlife related matters, especially on birds.

Shikra Safaris has since developed into a thriving hunting business, providing clients from around the world. Apart from hunting the Big 5 and plains game, Kotie is also an expert on the hunting of specialist animals such as the small carnivores, of which he has a large clientele all over the world. They also accommodate for bowhunters, and provide wingshootng and freshwater fishing experiences.

Operating on over 10 concessions and private conservation blocks across Limpopo, KwaZulu Natal, Northern cape and beyond, their conservation efforts have been a significant factor in maintaining and expanding wildlife populations across their areas of operations. They continue to preserve ecologically and culturally significant megafauna species through sustainable use, benefiting the community.
